Lakers Injury Report: Anthony Davis Upgraded Ahead Of Grizzlies Clash

Will All-Star Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis suit up for tonight's penultimate matchup of the regular season, against a very wounded 27-53 Memphis Grizzlies team that just wants to be put out of its misery at this point?

Per a recent NBA injury report, Davis has seen his status upgraded to probable to play through his lingering left eye contusion. While LA's surgically repaired guard Jalen Hood-Schifino (lumbar disc surgery) and big man Christian Wood (left knee surgery) are both out as usual, combo forward Jarred Vanderbilt also has been ruled out with his continuing right midfoot strain injury. Vanderbilt has been out since February 1st.

All-Star forward LeBron James (left ankle peroneal tendinopathy), meanwhile, has seen his status downgraded to questionable.

Davis revealed at today's pregame shootaround that his injured his feels "phenomenal," per Jovan Buha of The Athletic. He hurt the eye against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Buha reveals that The Brow claims his ailment was to the area around his eye, rather than the eye injury he suffered on March 16th in a Warriors game.

With or without their two All-Stars, the Lakers should be able to best the Grizzlies today. That's in large part thanks to the excellent play of LA's three other starters, guards D'Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves and power forward Rui Hachimura, all of whom have been pretty darn outstanding since being linked together in the team's first five, permanently, a few months ago. We don't need to talk about the Lakers' available reserves. In fact, it's better if we don't.
