USC Basketball: Eric Musselman Reveals Plans For Assistant Staff

The USC Trojans hired their new head coach, Eric Musselman, as they head into the Big Ten conference. Musselman will be charged with leading this Trojan team to new heights. While all eyes will be on Musselman, he can't do it alone. He'll need a team of great assistants to help this USC team.

While it's common for a coach to bring in a whole new staff of their own,The Los Angeles Times' Thuc Nhi Nguyen says Musselman has yet to decide on whom he'll bring in if he does.

"Musselman said he has not made any decisions about which, if any, assistants from Arkansas would join his staff at USC or whether he'd retain any of the current staff. His plan was to settle on the coaching staff in about one week," Nguyen writes.

While Musselman may not be clear on what he'll do yet, all signs point to him bringing in a new regime with him.

USC assistant coach Eric Mobley said his goodbyes to USC earlier this week. Former USC head coach Andy Enfield hired Mobley. Mobley helped secure former USC basketball stars and his sons Evan Mobley and Isaiah Mobley.

The 59-year-old has a ton of thinking to do and a ton of recruiting to do as well. While his assistant staff positions are at the forefront, Musselman also realizes how important this recruiting will be and what Los Angeles offer.

"The L.A. area has always had really great players," Musselman said. "I think back to when I was 12, 13, 14 years old and there were great players, there always will and always has been, so we need to recruit this market to the best of our ability once we get a staff together."

In all likelihood, Musselman will bring in his guys to turn this USC program into a basketball powerhouse.
