Lakers News: First Look At Improved Kobe Bryant Statue

The Kobe Bryant statue outside of Crypto.com Arena has been fixed!

Bryant's much-awaited statue was unveiled back on Feb. 8, showcasing the moment of the Hall of Fame Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard holding his finger up after his 81-point game. The statue was unveiled in a special ceremony in which Phil Jackson, Derek Fisher, Jeanie Buss, Kareem Abdul-Jabba and his widowVanessa Bryant all gave speeches to commemorate his legacy with Los Angeles.

Over a month after the statue was unveiled, there were spelling errors caught on the statue. The names of Jose Calderon, Von Wafer and the phrase "coach's decision" were all spelled wrong. The Lakers organization announced shortly after that they were aware of the mistakes and planning to get them fixed. Those errors have now been corrected as of Tuesday morning, per ESPN's Dave McMenamin. Take a look below:

The five-time NBA champion and 18-time NBA All-Star who spent his entire 20-year career with the Lakers will get two other statues built of him outside of Crypto.com Arena, including one of him and his late daughter Gianna.

Bryant joins fellow former Lakers Shaquille O'Neal, Elgin Baylor, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Jerry West, Magic Johnson and broadcaster Chick Hearn to be immortalized in bronze outside LA's home court.
