Lakers Injury Report: 3 Nets Role Players Will Sit Out Vs LA

Will it make a difference?

Per the NBA's latest injury report, three members of the Brooklyn Nets' standard roster will sit out the club's tilt tonight against your Los Angeles Lakers.

The biggest name among these absences is of course oft-injured forward/guard Ben Simmons, who has missed all but six games this season with a left lower back nerve impingement. Day'Ron Sharpe will sit out with a hyperextended left knee, while Dariq Whitehead will sit with a left shin stress reaction.

Two-way Nets players Jalen Wilson and Keon Johnson are on assignment with Brooklyn's G League affiliate, while Noah Clowney is on assignment with that club.

Simmons, a former three-time All-Star, looked like his old All-Defensive Team self when he was healthy, and was actually shooting fairly well within the arc before he went down. He's averaging 6.5 points on 52.8% field goal shooting, 10.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 0.8 blocks a night. Health issues and an extended holdout have made him something of a part-time presence across his last three seasons. He's appeared in just 48 of a possible 204 games during that span.

The 6'10" LSU product is on an absolutely brutal contract for a guy who doesn't play. He's earning $37.9 million this season and $40.3 million in 2024-25, both tallies are fully guaranteed. That's an absolutely brutal salary for a guy who can't shoot, let alone for a guy who can't stay healthy.
