Lakers Injury Report: Clippers All-Star Will Miss Final Battle Of LA Wednesday

A lucky break for the Lake Show!

As is typical for the LA Clippers this time of the year, one of their future Hall of Fame veterans is down for the count -- just when the games start to matter!

This time, it's nine-time All-Star forward Paul George.

Per Mark Medina of Sportsnaut, the 6'10" Palmdale native missed today's practice and will be on the shelf for tomorrow's game, too, with a knee injury.

"He's hurt," Clips head coach Ty Lue said simply.

The 31-28 Lakers lead the 37-19 Clippers 2-1 in their season series this year. The two teams have yet to face off in an actual Western Conference playoff series since their dynamic duos of Anthony Davis and LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard and George aligned in the summer of 2019.

George, 33, missed LA's most recent contest, a 123-107 blowout defeat to the 33-23 Sacramento Kings on Sunday, with the knee issue.

All told, the six-time All-NBA selection has been enjoying one of his healthier seasons in a while this year. Across 52 contests (he played in a grand total of 56 last season, a number he's well on his way to surpassing), the Fresno State product has been averaging 22.1 points on .456/.395/.905 shooting slits, 5.3 boards, 3.7 dimes, and 1.6 steals per bout.

With George sidelined against Sacramento, reserve swingman Norman Powell drew the start, scoring 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting (5-of-9 from long range) in 37:04. Look for him to get the nod from Lue again Wednesay.
