Los Angeles Lakers center Anthony Davis missed out on All-Star, All-NBA, and perhaps even MVP honors this season following a five-and-a-half week absence due to a right foot stress injury.

It took him a few weeks to really get into a performative groove, but especially in the recent absence of All-Star LA small forward LeBron James, Davis really has returned to his prolific ways of late.

Per NBA History, AD has apparently entered heady terrain thanks to his 30-point, 22-rebound performance against the Memphis Grizzlies Tuesday. This marked his second 30+ point, 20+ rebound night this season for LA, making him the first Los Angeles player to achieve this since a certain Hall of Fame big man whose dunking bronze likeness decorates the exterior of Crypto.com Arena:

That's pretty heady company to keep for The Brow. Since James went down, Davis has averaged 33.8 points on .554/.400/.796 shooting splits, 13.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.8 blocks. To be fair, it's a tiny sample size (AD has played in four of five possible games without LBJ), but it's impressive nevertheless.

Let's see if he can keep building on this kind of prodigious play in the weeks to come. It could be LA's only chance to make the postseason. The 32-34 team is currently the ninth seed in the Western Conference, just 0.5 games clear of the 11th seeded-Utah Jazz (i.e. the top team outside the play-in tournament) and just 1.5 games behind the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors (i.e. the lowest you can go without needing to partake in the play-in).
