Newly-promoted Los Angeles Lakers starting shooting guard Austin Reaves could be looking to make his international basketball debut this summer.

Per Robert Arndt of SPOX, Reaves recently nabbed a German passport earlier this season. His grandmother is German, and his brother Spencer is set to play for German club Brose Bamberg next year.

Reaves has enjoyed a terrific close to his second NBA season. Across his past 10 games prior to today's Bulls battle (his third straight start), the 24-year-old is averaging 18.9 points on .535/.353/.831 shooting splits, 6.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 0.6 steals a night.

The 6'5" swingman will be a restricted free agent in the summer as well, and seems set to command a significant raise that will see him earn something in the low eight figures annually.

He could be joining his Lakers teammate Dennis Schröder in World Cup competition. Schröder of course powered Germany to a bronze medal in last summer's FIBA EuroBasket competition. Schröder, like Reaves, will be a free agent this summer, but unlike Reaves, the 30-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent, meaning he can sign anywhere he wants without giving the Lakers the right to match a rival offer.
