Lakers News: Austin Reaves Reacts to Incredible Fan Love After World Cup Victory

The undrafted player has taken his game to new heights.

The Austin Reaves experience during the 2023 FIBA World Championship is off and running. Things have been going great for the Los Angeles Lakers guard, and the fans are loving every minute that he is in the game.

The love being shown toward Reaves has been insane, showing just how impactful being a member of the Lakers can be. Reaves went from being an undrafted young player to the third-best player on the LA roster in just two seasons.

His addition to Team USA has been great to see, and he is holding his own on the court. Reaves recently opened up about all the love that he is receiving from fans during the tournament, per Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

“I was talking to (Lakers assistant) Phil Handy, and he was telling me that they love the Lakers out here,” Reaves said. “So I kind of seen it coming. It’s special for me. I’m from a super small town. Not a lot of people expected me to be here, representing our country. So for them to accept me the way that they accept me it means a lot to me.”

Per Joe Vardon, The Athletic

This is probably something that Reaves never expected to happen, but his work ethic and dedication to the game have changed things. He made a major jump last season in his performance, prompting for this to happen.

Reaves is a household name among Lakers fans and even many around the NBA. But he is getting more exposure now, and with the Lakers brand around him, the sky is the limit.

He is already a fan favorite in Los Angeles, but if he keeps up his strong play for Team USA, he will become a favorite across the country.
