Beyond the on-court hardware, the games of Chicago Bulls shooting guard Michael Jordan and Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant have a variety of overlapping commonalities.

Chicago Bears broadcaster Kenneth Davis of NBC Sports Chicago spoke with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson of Bovada Sports about the parallels between both Hall of Fame shooting guards.

"See I'm from Chicago, so there's certain people that know, particularly if you're from the age range from probably 50 to 30, 35, a decent amount of people in Chicago kind of... like Kobe begrudgingly," Davis cautioned.

"By year three of Kobe as a Laker, I was like, 'You know what? This is my chance to see Mike again. I'm not going to hate on this, I'm going to enjoy it, right?' And I just started to enjoy Kobe for his mastery. Some of the stuff he expanded on more than Mike. I think Mike is the GOAT [Greatest Of All Time] also. Kobe was a more... purse shooter than Mike was. Mike became a better shooter later in his career, Kobe did it earlier in his career."

"And the thing was, we had so many people -- Harold Miner, a.k.a. 'Baby Jordan,' I was a Latrell Sprewell guy -- so many people tried to kind of be like Mike, and [were] nothing near it. Kobe was a mirror image."

It's no secret that Bryant studied Jordan's game tape obsessively, imitating his moves and technique on the floor. The 18-time LA All-Star and five-time world champ would also consult with MJ over the phone, picking his brain about the game at large. Michael Jordan may be the best ever, but there's a reason Kobe Bryant is mentioned in the same breath.
