Former Laker Lonzo Ball Shut Down For Season By Bulls

The point guard is slowly gaining strength in his recovery process but still is not 100% healthy.

On Tuesday, the Chicago Bulls announced that guard Lonzo Ball will miss the remainder of the season, as he still suffers pain from his left knee meniscus tear.

The point guard has apparently made progress with his strength and function over the past few months of his recovery process, but is not 100% healthy.

NBA insider Shams Charania tweeted out the update of the news:

The goal is to hopefully see Ball return for the 2023-24 season. The point guard has been out since Jan. 14, 2022, and has undergone two knee surgeries since. His first arthroscopic surgery was over a year ago in Jan. 2022, and his second surgery occurred eight months later in September.

When Ball initially was sent to Chicago in 2021, he gave the team a breath of fresh air as he provided an offensive talent that helped the team end the season in the No. 6 spot in the East. The 25-year-old was arguably having one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 13 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.8 steals.

Now, with Ball out of the lineup, the team has struggled to perform as well, and they currently sit as the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately for the team and for Bulls fans, the former No. 2 overall pick still has a ways to go before he returns to full form. The former Laker will now be joined by the presence of another former Laker, Patrick Beverley, who signed with Chicago this week and hopes to give the Bulls the playoff push that they need in Ball’s absence.
