Former LeBron James Olympic, Lakers Teammate Pining For Paris Recruitment

He could be waiting a long time for James to call...

After Team USA fell short of their goals during the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, it left people feeling very disappointed. It has now been the second consecutive tournament where the Americans haven’t lived up to expectations, and with the Olympics taking place next summer, something had to change.

Lakers star LeBron James sparked much debate when he hinted at possibly coming back to play in the games next summer, following the rough defeat this year for Team USA. It has also been reported that James wants to bring along some of the better NBA players that the league has to offer as well.

It would create a super team for the Americans during the Olympics and it has people very excited for the Olympics. But there is one former All-Star player who has been trying to put himself into a position to attend the games as well. That would be former Lakers center Dwight Howard, who won the 2020 NBA title with James in LA.

Howard posted on social media about his interest and has recently posted again that he is waiting for James to call him up about joining next summer. But he phrased James as "LeGM", a nod to the jokes about James being General Manager for whatever team he plays for.

The biggest issue with Howard possibly joining Team USA is the fact that he has been out of the league for a little now. He could be making a comeback soon, but he will also be 38 when the games kick off in Paris next summer.

Team USA could probably use much younger guys, who have been playing in the NBA consistently. Howard would be a great story, especially given his experience with Team USA, but it remains highly doubtful when you really look at everything.
