Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James reached elite company after helping LA close out the Memphis Grizzlies at Crypto.com Arena on Friday night.

Dave McMenamin of ESPN writes that the playoff series win, James' 40th, ties him with one of the Lakers' most decorated role players, former LA point guard Derek Fisher.

James relayed, per McMenamin, that Los Angeles was hungry to wrap up their series in that Game 6, which they did in convincing fashion with a dominating 125-85 blowout.

“We understood that we had an opportunity to play in front of our fans, and we wanted to try to end it tonight,” James revealed.

James finished with 22 points, six dimes and five boards. Los Angeles head coach Darvin Ham marveled at James' rabid impulse to sow up the series victory and move on to the next round, which kicks off on the road tomorrow against the favored Golden State Warriors.

“He’s playing with a sense of urgency,” Ham raved of the 19-time All-Star. “He knows there’s only so many more of these (postseason runs) he’s going to be able to participate in. So he’s definitely been in the moment.”

Fisher enjoyed an 18-year NBA career, including 13 seasons with your Lakers. He was with LA for all seven of its Kobe Bryant-era NBA Finals appearances (including five titles), and served as the starting point guard for most of those teams.
