Lakers News: How Sneaky-Great LA Signing Hopes To Help LA Take Next Step

Some good bench depth.

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka had an offseason to remember after he leaned into bringing back his playoff roster from last year and some fresh faces.

One former Timberwolf from last season was one of these additions and could provide a new element of versatility to a suddenly loaded LA roster.

Prince spent plenty of time guarding James while with the Atlanta Hawks when the King still reigned over Cleveland for his second stint.

Stops in Brooklyn and James' old stomping grounds in Ohio eventually led him to Minnesota where he played the past three seasons.

LA experienced Prince's skillset first-hand after their 2023 play-in showing earned the Lakers the seventh seed in the Western Conference.

A combo forward that can guard multiple positions and shoot the three-ball, Prince inked a one-year contract for Darvin Ham's new roster.

Prince joined Rui Hachimura and Jared Vanderbilt as frontcourt depth for LA, but the latter two forwards joined the team at the 2023 trade deadline.

The four-year Baylor Bear knows what he can contribute to his new team and Ham will certainly have his choices for frontcourt minutes to sort through in just a few weeks.

Even more gratifying is the fact that Prince can now stake claim to an important role on a championship contender.

Atlanta, Brooklyn, Cleveland and Minnesota all attempted to field such rosters, but Prince never made an NBA Finals in his time with any of those teams.

LA brings new expectations for the veteran forward and with James and Anthony Davis as teammates, Prince's new ambitions lie with Larry O'Brien next summer.

Banner No. 18 remains atop the Lakers' list and Prince's addition to their new-look roster will only help such a pursuit.
