I'm not sure if D'Angelo Russell really qualifies as the third best Laker in a hypothetical "Big Three." What might be a more appropriate designation is calling LeBron James and Anthony Davis the team's Big Two, surrounded by a variety of high-level role players.

Russell is the priciest of those players, though as I've said before I'm still not sure ex-Jazzman Jarred Vanderbilt isn't the third most important player on the team right now.

What Russell brings to the table is absolutely critical in its own right, however. He's been a high-level late-game playmaker, scorer and shooter, three elements you couldn't exactly about former $47.1 million man Russell Westbrook.

James is the team's top scorer at 28.8 points a night, Davis second at 26.6, and Russell third at 17.1.

Per the NBA's latest injury report, LA could technically be without its "Big Two + D-Lo" tonight against a technical Western Conference play-in rival, the Utah Jazz, though that doesn't seem likely. Davis is considered probable to play through his supposedly still-"active" right foot stress injury, Russell is, too, despite sitting out the second half of LA's last game, a 134-109 blowout over the Rockets, with a sore left foot

The one Laker among that triumvirate who's more in jeopardy of sitting out is LeBron James, who is merely considered questionable to play as he continues to work his way back from a right foot tendon tear. Reserve center Mo Bamba remains out with a left ankle sprain, while two-player Scotty Pippen Jr. will miss the action.
