Today on ESPN, your Los Angeles Lakers are wrapping up their five game home stand with a bout against the New York Knicks, who have cooled off following their recent nine-game win streak, having lost their last three in a row.

The Knicks will be the wearier club, playing on the second night of a back-to-back set of games in LA. New York lost 106-95 at Crypto.com Arena to the Los Angeles Clippers last night, and the Lakers are hoping to keep the Knicks winless this weekend. LA last played on a Friday, when it won its third straight game, a 122-112 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Los Angeles will be without All-Star small forward LeBron James (right foot tendon injury) and 3-and-D center Mo Bamba (high left ankle sprain), both sidelined for multiple weeks still. Two-way rookies Scotty Pippen Jr. and Cole Swider will be with LA's El Segundo-based NBAGL affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

One player whose status is a bit up in the air is starting center Anthony Davis, who as usual is merely listed as probable to play, due to his right foot stress injury. He looked a bit passive on Friday, recording a rare-for-him double-single of eight points and nine rebounds, far cries from his season averages of 26.1 points and 12.4 rebounds a night.

A win today would move LA to a .500 record for the first time all year. Seriously. But, against a tough New York team, it won't happen without Anthony Davis.
