All-NBA Los Angeles Lakers small forward LeBron James did his darnedest to postpone a perhaps-inevitable playoff elimination at the hands of the Denver Nuggets last night, scoring 40 points, pulling down 10 boards and dishing out nine assists, but it wasn't enough to prevent a 113-111 Game 4 loss and a series sweep.

James has clearly been playing while hampered by a lingering right foot tendon injury, which appears to have impeded his lift and first step in the playoffs.

Following the game, James informed Dave McMenamin of ESPN that he was going to have further imaging conducted on the foot to determine its status.

"I'm going to get an MRI on it and see how the tendon either healed or not healed and go from there," James said. "We'll see what happens."

James conceded that the foot bugged him throughout the end of the regular season and the entire postseason. One wonders if the state of the foot will have any impact on whether or not he does decide to retire, as he threatened to do last night.

"I knew I could get to the finish line," James told McMenamin. "Obviously, I knew I had to deal with it and deal with the pain or deal with not being able to be myself before the injury, but there was nothing that made me feel like I couldn't get to the finish line."
