Now that the Denver Nuggets have swept your Los Angeles Lakers out of the Western Conference Finals, LA's up-and-down 2022-23 season has officially come to a close.

Accordingly, team vice president of basketball operations and GM Rob Pelinka, along with rookie head coach Darvin Ham, are set to conduct year-end media conversations to discuss the Lakers' season and what comes next. Marc Stein reports that those conversations will transpire today.

Both men will have plenty to talk about. Beyond discussing LA's generally successful year (having gone from a 2-10 start to the Western Conference Finals thanks to some solid midseason trades courtesy of Pelinka), they will both have to choose how to discuss the potential retirement of Lakers All-Star small forward LeBron James, who just finished his 20th season.

Fans and analysts alike already have a variety of theories and thoughts about a potential James retirement. Many are skeptical it's an honest threat, and see it as a tactic to pressure Pelinka to make win-now moves this summer, such as signing controversial free agent All-Star Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving. While both Ham and Pelinka will no doubt be diplomatic, it will be fascinating to see what they divulge nevertheless.
