Lakers Injury News: Key Role Player Sidelined for Weeks with Left Knee Injury

This is not how the Lakers wanted to start the second half of the season.

The injuries keep piling up for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced they would be without a key role player and big man, Christian Wood, for two weeks due to left knee swelling. ESPN's Dave McMenamin shared via X.

This is the last thing the Lakers and their fans wanted to see, especially after the amount of injuries the team has already suffered.

Wood, although inconsistent, provided another big body for the purple and gold. He's averaging 6.9 points per game on 46.6% shooting from the field, 5.1 rebounds, and one assist in 17.4 minutes per game in 50 games.

The Lakers will now rely even more on their superstar Anthony Davis and athletic big man Jaxson Hayes. This is a massive blow for the Lakers, who will already be without LeBron James for their game against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.

At worst, the Lakers could be without six of their key players as the second half of the season ramps up.

Will the Lakers ever catch a break?
