Lakers Injury News: Nets, LA To Be Without Two Stars Each On Monday
Your Los Angeles Lakers will be relying on some role players to take on much of their scoring burden tonight at Barclays Center. That's because LA will be missing All-Stars LeBron James (left ankle soreness) and Anthony Davis (right foot stress injury recovery), the club's top two scorers and overall best players by a mile.
Two-way rookies Cole Swider and Scotty Pippen Jr. will remain with the Lakers' NBA G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. Austin Reaves continues to rehabilitate his left hamstring strain, and is set to be reassessed later in the week.
Los Angeles swingman Lonnie Walker IV, initially listed as probable to suit up, has seen his status upgraded to available tonight. As one of the team's more athletic wings, capable of scoring inside and out, Walker could be leaned upon more than usual, and will have to have a big night for the Lakers to pull off what would be a massive upset victory (the Nets are nine-point favorites in Vegas).
As we recently established, the Nets will be missing All-Star forward Kevin Durant (right MCL sprain), youngster Kessler Edwards, and two-way players Dru Smith and David Duke Jr.
In a mild Nets update, Brooklyn point forward Ben Simmons, who had been considered questionable to suit up with a sore left knee, and injury-prone veteran forward T.J. Warren, dealing with a left shin contusion, will sit.
