Lakers Injury Report: Gabe Vincent Receives Promising Update

Vincent's latest injury update.

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Gabe Vincent finally got a positive injury update. Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said the 27-year-old was cleared for non-contact work on Tuesday, via Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Vincent has had poor injury luck since signing with the Lakers this offseason. The Lakers signed Vincent to a three-year, $33 million deal after Vincent contributed to the Miami Heat's NBA Finals run a season ago. His knee effusion ended up requiring surgery, keeping him off the court. Vincent has only been available for five games this season, averaging 5.4 points, 1.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He last played on December 20.

Last week, Shams Charania said that the hope is still for Vincent to return at some point in mid-to-late March, and even as soon as next week. With Vincent cleared to get started, this is the first start to that goal.

Ideally, the Lakers will get a major contributor in Vincent in time for their playoff push. With the Lakers sitting at 36-30 and the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference, the help of Vincent could be key for the Lakers to win in the play-in tournament and make a playoff run.
