Lakers News: John Hollinger Believes This LA Wing Is In Line For A Big Year

Breakout season incoming?

The Lakers have a ton of firepower on their roster entering the season, but one of their secret weapons may not be who many people think. It could end up being second-year player Max Christie, and he could heavily impact this season for LA.

Christie showed a ton of growth during his time in the NBA Summer League this offseason, and through the first few preseason games, he looks like the real deal. He is a long, athletic player who could thrive in a role as a three-and-D type player for LA.

But he is also so much more than that since he can attack the rim effectively as well. Christie has been turning heads to start and has impressed NBA analyst John Hollinger.

"However, he showed massive improvement as a ballhandler and shot-creator this July; the same guy who averaged 7.4 points on 27.3 percent shooting in his 2022 summer league boosted those numbers to 19.8 points on 49.2 percent shooting."

Per John Hollinger of The Athletic

If Christie can continue to be a knockdown shooter, his role with this team will increase significantly. He has plenty of room to grow as a player, and being around all the veterans could help things too.

The Lakers overall success will come down to how guys like Christie perform this year. LeBron James and Anthony Davis can't do it alone, and they'll need the role players to step up at times.

The team is very high on the upside of Christie, and he is ready to show them what he can do. His skill set is exactly what this team needs, and now he just needs to go out to prove he belongs.
