Lakers News: Anthony Davis Snubbed as Western Conference All-Star
Lakers superstar Anthony Davis has been snubbed from the NBA's All-Star game. He had a case to be named as a starter, and now didn't even make it as a reserve.
There's no doubt that Davis was deserving of making the All-Star team in the Western Conference. Before he went down with an injury, he was playing at an MVP-caliber level.
And if the excuse is that he didn't play in enough games, Zion Williamson, who was named a starter in the West, has only played in 29 games this season — Davis is playing in his 29th game of the season against the Indiana Pacers.
Davis' numbers made him as deserving as anyone to make the team, as he's averaged 26.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.0 blocks per game, shooting 58.3 percent from the field and 82.5 percent from the free-throw line. He's been a force on both ends of the floor, and was generating real MVP and Defensive Player of the Year buzz before he went down with an injury that sidelined him for 20 games.
But since he's returned, he's slowly ramped up his on-court time, and has continued to be a presence on both ends of the court.
Despite missing some time, he did more than enough to warrant a spot on this year's All-Star team. Unfortunately, the NBA got this one wrong.
Davis can still make the team as an injury replacement — Williamson may not be able to play in the game in two weeks. However, either way, he's been disrespected by the league on Thursday. Hopefully, he can use it as motivation.
