Lakers News: Derek Fisher-Matt Barnes Conflict Appears To Be Thawing

It appears the beef is squashed

The beef between two former Los Angeles Lakers, five-time NBA champion Derek Fisher and forward Matt Barnes, appears to be over.

In a surprising turn of events, the former NBA champion has taken the role of high school basketball coach and is coaching Barnes' twin sons. A video of the two and the twins went viral.

This video has gained attention due to the history between Barnes and Fisher, which stems from a well-documented incident in 2015.

During that time, Barnes reportedly traveled a considerable distance to confront Fisher at the home he once shared with his then-wife, Gloria Govan. The source of the conflict was not Fisher's romantic relationship with Govan, which began after Barnes and Govan had separated, but concerns about one of Barnes' children's comfort level with Fisher.

The incident fueled headlines and created an impression that the two former teammates were not on good terms. However, Fisher's recent involvement as the coach where Barnes' twin boys play suggests a potential shift towards reconciliation or at least a cordial understanding.

While the details of their current relationship remain private, Fisher coaching Barnes' sons indicate a level of cooperation or peace between them, which is a positive development. As they continue to navigate this new dynamic, one can hope it sets an example of maturity and understanding for others.
