Lakers News: Expert Applauds LA For Rumored Austin Reaves Plans

How will this change the Lakers offense next season?

After going un-drafted, Lakers guard Austin Reaves has learned and grown his game immensely. It helped earn him a brand new four-year deal with LA worth $56 million and Reaves’s game should only keep going.

During the playoffs last season, Reaves saw his role change a little as he took on more of the point guard role for the Lakers. Heading into next season, the Lakers are looking to expand on that and allow Reaves to run the offense more often. The team saw the success they had with Reaves running the show in the playoffs and have decided to expand that.

Lakers insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic explained the Lakers plan for their offense next season.

"The Lakers plan on running more of their offense through Reaves next season, unlocking the point guard skills he’s flashed through his first two years in the league, according to team sources not authorized to speak publicly.Reaves was a major part of why the Lakers reached the Western Conference Finals this past season and he became the teams third best player."

Per The Athletic

This move will also allow star LeBron James to play more off the ball this coming season, something that he has wanted to do more of for some time. The emergence of Reaves allows the Lakers to use more versatile lineups that can match opposing teams in terms of size and athleticism.

Reaves became a fan favorite this past season and he will be a key piece for the team as they look to bring banner number 18 back to the city of angels.
