Lakers News: Former All-Star LeBron James Rival Doesn't Think The Chosen One Deserves LA Statue

He may have a point here...

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been dominating the NBA for over 20 years. It's pretty incredible what he has accomplished throughout his career, and he is still going strong in year 21.

James is arguably the greatest player of all time, continuing to add to his legendary legacy. He has won everywhere that he has gone, including with the Lakers.

However, some want to discredit his success with the Lakers. Fair or not, James has been with the team since 2018, marking one of his longest stints with a franchise.

This has led to the question being asked about whether or not he deserves a statue built outside Crypto.com Arena once he does retire. One former NBA All-Star rival of his believes that he hasn't done enough with the team to warrant a statue being built.

Gilbert Arenas, who played against James during his career, made it a point to go against the notion that a statue is deserved.

Arenas may have a point, as a statue represents a truly special player in the history of a franchise. This isn't taking anything away from what James has done with the Lakers, but one title may not be enough to get a statue.

Now, if the Lakers were to win another with James, then a statue could make sense. After all, he broke the NBA scoring record and scored his 40,000th point while wearing the Purple and Gold.

James is a legend through and through, but he may be more of an NBA legend, rather than a Lakers one. He has meant everything to the organization since first arriving, but it remains to be seen if he will ultimately earn a statue outside the arena.
