Lakers News: How Patrick Beverley Feels About Los Angeles Fan Base

Harsh?

Former Los Angeles Lakers combo guard Patrick Beverley, now a reserve point guard with the Milwaukee Bucks, recently reflected on his brief tenure with LA in 2022-23, during a new episode of his show The Pat Bev Pod With Rone.

“I wish I would have knew about the fan base more,” Beverley reflected. "I ain’t gon’ lie,” Beverley said. “Lakers fan base a motherf***er. They want you to score 30 every night. And the day you score 27, ‘Trade him. He’s a bum.’ Yeah, Lakers' fan base tough.”

The 6'2" vet, a three-time former All-Defensive honoree, notes that LA fans were harsh on two of his ex-teammates in particular: Russell Westbrook and D'Angelo Russell. D-Lo and Beverley never overlapped on the Lakers, but were colleagues on the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“But you seen it throughout my teammates,” Beverley said. “You seen it, obviously, through Russ. I see it through D-Lo (D’Angelo Russell). But, it comes with the legacy they have also.”

He also revealed on the pod that he would have tweaked his social media presence.

“Stayed my a– off Twitter, straight up,” Beverley said.

During his time in LA, Beverley was often miscast by head coach Darvin Ham as a shooting guard in tiny, tiny lineups alongside Westbrook. He started off his lone season with the Lakers struggling mightily from long range, before eventually settling into a decent conversion rate. All told, he averaged 6.4 points on .402/.348/.780 shooting splits, 3.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks a night during his 45 contests (all starts) with Los Angeles.

He was flipped to the Orlando Magic as part of the Mo Bamba trade before negotiating a contract buyout, after which he signed on with his hometown Chicago Bulls, where he immediately emerged as the most vocal veteran leader on the team.
