Lakers News: LA Considering Trades To Upgrade From Gabe Vincent

The Lakers are looking to upgrade off of the injured Vincent.

Your Los Angeles Lakers are in position to make some serious upgrades to their roster ahead of the February 8th trade deadline, as without consistent playmaking, scoring, and point-of-attack defense, they find themselves sitting at 22-23 through the first 45 games of the season.

Despite the fact that LeBron James and Anthony Davis are far healthier than they've been any year since the team's 2019-20 bubble championship, the team's underperformance can be marginally attributed to the absence of Gabe Vincent, who was their top offseason acquisition.

The UC Santa Barbara product was a key two-way contributor for the Miami Heat in their NBA Finals run, sparking the notion that he could fill a similar role with the Lakers.

Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury almost immediately, playing in just 5 games where he's averaged just over 5 points and 3 assists on 11.8% 3-point shooting.

As a result, they've looked to shop Vincent, looking at potential upgrades at the backup point guard position.

Tons of names have swirled around, including the likes of Tyus Jones of the Washington Wizards and Collin Sexton of the Utah Jazz.

Personally, if we can get a package together for either of those two that doesn't involve more than Vincent and a first-round pick, I think it's a no-brainer. If players like D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, or even Jalen Hood-Schifino have to get involved, however, I think it becomes too costly. Those players are all tradable, just for more than a backup point guard.
