Lakers News: LA Starter Reveals Watching LeBron James As A Kid Inspired Him To Make NBA

The NBA— when your idols become your rivals, or sometimes even your teammates.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is in year 21 of his NBA career, and he's done it all.

The four-time NBA champion started his career in 2003 and has dominated through the span of three decades. Many NBA fans adore his game, and the same goes for many of the NBA players in the league today.

Many of the NBA players in today's game have grown up revering James, and his current teammates are no exception.

After the Lakers drafted the Washington Wizards on Thursday, LA point guard D'Angelo Russell talked about how he idolized James growing up and a reason why he wanted to play in the NBA., Clutch Points' Michael Corvo shared via X.

"He's the first person I saw play in the NBA," Russell said. "My dad took me to my first NBA game ... I was a big LeBron fan. He did that signature dunk, and I remember crying...I was like, this is where I want to be. He's inspired me without even knowing it."

Russell has been in the league since 2015, James' 11th NBA season at the time.

Last season, after the NBA trade deadline, the Lakers traded for Russell, and he fulfilled his wish of playing alongside his idol. Although James is 39 years old, he's defying the laws of everything on the basketball court.

To this day, he's still the strongest, biggest, fastest, and most athletic player on the court. James virtually has no weakness, and Russell is doing his part for his idol and teammate to continue his dominant career.

James is truly one of one. Don't take him for granted, folks. Russell and his teammates certainly aren't.
