Lakers News: LeBron James' Age A Constant Source Of Amusement To Teammates

The King still is at the top of his game.

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James has been in the NBA for a long time, and he has seen it all. He is now in his 21st season, and James is the oldest player in the league.

His longevity is something to behold, and his greatness isn't to be taken lightly. James is doing things that nobody thought possible, and he continues to amaze even at his advanced age.

But James hasn't let his age define him, and he continues to have fun on the basketball court. He also jokes around with his teammates like he used to when he was new to the NBA, and it's become a joke around the Lakers roster.

Guard Austin Reaves said that he jokes with James all the time about his age, and it has made them closer as teammates.

“He’s always got energy. He’s the oldest player in the NBA but still acts like he’s 20 everyday. Just joking around, having fun,” Reaves said. “And I think he plays the game the same way, regardless of who he’s playing. And like Rui said, any time Bron has something that pushes him a little further, you see the results like you get tonight. Like last year in the playoffs. He just did more after all of that stuff started happening.”

What James is able to still do on the basketball floor is insane. Through 13 games this season, James is averaging 26.4 points, 82. rebounds and 6.5 assists per game. He is also shooting 39.7 percent from beyond the three-point line as well.

“I remind him every day he’s old — in basketball years,” Reaves said with a smile. “I just told him that again.”

James may not be the same player that he once was, but he doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. He is pushing back against Father Time in a way nobody else ever has, and it's been incredible to see.

Turning serious, Reaves continued: “He’s fighting Father Time better than anybody that’s played the game other than Tom Brady, maybe. He’s playing at a really, really high level.”

The hope is that James can keep up the strong production, and eventually, it leads to the Lakers winning another title. He does need help, so other guys will need to step up the rest of the way.
