Lakers News: LeBron James Extends Record Player Of The Week Award Tally

The King is in a league of his own.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James keeps on defying the game of basketball at his age. After a week in which we saw James become the first player in NBA history to record 40,000 points, he earned an award in the process.

The number-one scorer in NBA history has been named the NBA's Player of the Week. The league announced on Monday via X.

James led the Purple and Gold to a 2-1 record last week, averaging 30.3 points on 56.9% shooting from the field, 8.7 assists, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

Not only did James earn this well-deserved award, but it was the 67th time in his career he's earned this award. The late great Kobe Bryant is second behind James, being named Player of the Week 33 times in his career spanning from 2000 to 2013.

The four-time NBA MVP is in a league of his own; the 40K-point mark and another Player of the Week nod are just the tip of the iceberg. There will never be another James in our lifetime. Don't take him for granted, folks.
