Lakers News: Warriors Auditioned 3 2022 LA Role Players

Could we see the in the Bay this year?

Over the past couple of seasons, the Los Angeles Lakers have made quite a bit of roster moves and changes as they have tried to get back to their winning habits of 2020. They tried to get more versatile in 2021 and arguably put together an even better squad but injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis led to a first round playoff exit.

LA's 2022 team missed the playoffs altogether after they traded most of their depth and shooting for Russell Westbrook. It wasn't until 2023 when they traded the former MVP for D'Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura and more young role players that they made a run to the WCF.

However, all of these moves made by the purple and gold means that the players that got dealt away were left in search of new teams. We've already heard the recent rumors that former LA champion Dwight Howard will be meeting with the Golden State Warriors.

And it looks like a couple of other former Lakers actually worked out with the Warriors in hopes of getting a roster spot this offseason. These names include Stanley Johnson, Kent Bazemore and Juan Toscano-Anderson.

“The Golden State Warriors continue to host NBA veterans for workouts,” wrote NBA insider Michael Scotto. “Recent participants included former Warriors Kent Bazemore, Juan Toscano-Anderson and Dewayne Dedmon, along with free agents Will Barton, Jaylen Nowell, Stanley Johnson and Derrick Favors, league sources told HoopsHype.”

Johnson showcased the ability to play hard on both ends during his time with the Lakers and last season with the Spurs. Bazemore and Toscano-Anderson both struggled to stay on the floor during their LA stints but still as veteran presences.

We wish all of them the best of luck during their next endeavors.
