Lakers News: WNBA Star Confident Anthony Davis Has MVP Upside

Let's see if this comes true!

The Los Angeles Lakers have a number of players on their roster this season that have something to prove. Austin Reaves will be looking to show the world why everybody is talking about him and that he can get even better after his breakout year, D'Angelo Russell wants to flip the script after a tough WCF performance, Rui Hachimura hopes to continue his playoff production instead of regular season production and Anthony Davis needs to prove he can stay healthy.

Injuries have been AD's lone form of kryptonite and even though the jumper hasn't been as efficient as it was when he first got to Los Angeles, The Brow showed what he could accomplish in 16 postseason games when healthy.

Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic have been able to stay on the court more than AD over these past few years and that has led to them leapfrogging Davis in most center rankings and also winning the last three MVP awards.

Well with new NBA rules stating that players must suit up for at least 65 games to be considered for major awards, WNBA star Chaney Ogwumike has big expectations for the Lakers big man this coming season.

"Anthony Davis can absolutely be MVP," said Ogwumike. "Gotta play 65 games through and play 20 minutes. That's the threshold but when healthy, he puts up the numbers for that."

This has been a belief echoed by Lakers fans for quite some time now. Few players can impact the game on both sides of the floor the way Davis can and it ultimately comes down to him just being available.
