Lakers Play Tribute Video for Former Head Coach Frank Vogel in Return to Los Angeles, Watch Here

He won a championship with the team in 2020.

Former Lakers head coach Frank Vogel signed with the Phoenix Suns this offseason in the same role, and made his first return to Los Angeles on Thursday night in both teams' second game of the season.

Vogel, who won a championship with the Lakers in 2020, was honored with a tribute video for his Crypto.com Arena return. Jovan Buha of The Athletic took a video, which you can watch below:

The Lakers fired Vogel following the 2022 season, one in which the Lakers went 33-49 and missed the postseason altogether. It was Russell Westbrook's first season in LA, and things just didn't work out from the jump.

Vogel ended up being the scapegoat, despite winning a title just two years prior. The Lakers went with Darvin Ham, who led the team to the Western Conference Finals despite starting the season 2-10.

Vogel is now in Phoenix, where they have championship aspirations of their own with arguably the best big three in basketball with Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal. The Lakers and Suns are considered two of the favorites to win the West this season, so expect good battles from Vogel and his former team all year long.
