Lakers Rising Star Sounds Off On D'Angelo Russell's Selfless Persona

His impact is very clear!

When it comes to playing point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, not everybody in the NBA can handle the responsibility. It requires a certain level of composure and comfortability under the bright lights and especially when superstar teammates are involved as well, the point guard must be able to control the pace of the game and lead the team when the stars are struggling.

Few know this better than D'Angelo Russell who was actually given a second chance to lead the charge in LA after the 2023 trade deadline. Russell made his presence felt immediately as he had the purple and gold playing at a fast pace and his transition three's brought the crowd to their feet every single time.

However, he was given a smaller contract this summer for a reason... LA's front office needs him prove that he can be their starting point guard en route to a title and not struggle when the deep postseason rolls around. D-Lo will be able to continue sharing the backcourt with rising star Austin Reaves and on a recent appearance on the 'Full Send' podcast, Reaves had nothing but positive things to say about his LA teammate.

"He's one of the most selfless people I've been around," said Reaves. "He really wants everybody else to succeed and I think that's why we have such a good relationship."

Something that made last year's LA playoff squad so special was how they were able to come together in such a short period of time. Their depth allowed them to truly see the talents of everybody on the roster and it all started with Russell finding everyone for open looks.

His value as a shooter and passer is very clear but hopefully everybody realizes just how selfless of a player Dlo is this season, just like Reaves said!
