Lakers News: LeBron James Dedicating 21st Season To Bronny

A fitting tribute to his family.

When your Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James revealed that he was contemplating retirement in the immediate aftermath of losing the 2023 Western Conference Finals to the Denver Nuggets, media and LA fans alike were fairly skeptical.

Though the 38-year-old shot these same comments down after winning an ESPY in June, the King now has a new touching reason to continue his playing career.

The James family and the basketball community as a whole received quite the scare when their eldest son Bronny, a freshman combo guard at USC, suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this summer.

Rumors surrounded the situation and various controversial reasons floated as to why such a travesty happened to such a young and healthy athlete.

When doctors determined that he'd make a full recovery from the defect in his heart, the moment surely shaped some of LeBron's perspective about his immediate future.

Fans of the purple and gold likely would've understood if James wanted to take a step back for his health and his family, but his now 21st season will honor his oldest child in a heartwarming tribute.

Though his son's return to the hardwood for the USC Trojans has no timetable, James stressed on media day earlier this week that he had plenty left to give to the game of basketball.

The elder James may not be the consensus best player in the league anymore as he approaches his fourth decade of life,

Still, the pure fact that you could still argue the four-time Finals MVP's top-10 status remains an athletic marvel the likes of which we've never seen.

The combination of both skill and longevity might never be duplicated and though he got injured before the postseason, James' two postseason series wins as the seventh seed proved that greatness never stops.
