Lakers: LeBron James Sat Out Practice, What Does This Mean For Scoring Record Push?

LA next faces OKC on Tuesday.

Los Angeles Lakers All-Star power forward LeBron James is currently just 35 points shy of tying former LA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time regular season scoring mark of 38,387 points. Given that he's averaging 30 points a game this season on 50.5% shooting from the floor and has always had a flair for stepping up in big moments, James had seemed poised to hit at least 35 points against a mediocre Oklahoma City Thunder game on Tuesday to vault into the record books.

Now, however, it appears that the record could be safe for a couple more days this week.

The 6'9" vet did not partake in LA's team practice today ahead of its duel with OKC tomorrow, per Mark Medina of NBA.com, which obviously throws a cloud on his participation in the game proper. James, who did attend the practice while sitting out, opted not to chat with available reporters today. He did, however, speak candidly with ESPN's Mike Wilbon about LA's bungled attempt to deal for Irving earlier today.

The 19-time All-Star, 38, may still be upset that the Lakers missed out on a deal for All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate who instead is being flipped from the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks, ahead of the Mavs' game against the LA Clippers on Wednesday.

Per Underdog NBA, James is officially questionable to suit up for the Thunder bout tomorrow.
