Lakers News: Rob Pelinka Acknowledges LA Is Still On Free Agent Hunt

The Lakers still have two open roster spots.

Your Los Angeles Lakers are apparently not finished asset-hunting in free agency this summer, at least if team president Rob Pelinka is to be believed.

Pelinka was on hand during LA's latest Summer League contest, an ongoing contest against No. 2 overall draft pick Brandon Miller (currently playing horrifically on offense) and the rest of his Charlotte Hornets.

Per Mark Medina of The Sporting Tribune, Pelinka indicated specifically that Los Angeles is "looking to add an additional center" into the 14th spot on the team's current standard roster. It appears likely the Lakers will opt not to fill up all 15 positions, as that will give the club a bit more flexibility in trade conversations, at least through the first half of the year.

Jovan Buha of The Athletic adds that Pelinka also supplied a timeline for this new signing, indicating that LA intends to have another center or power forward rostered ahead of the start of training camp in September.

So who's still available, you ask? When it comes to frontcourt pieces available for the veteran's minimum (which is all the Lakers have left to spend), cheap options include Bismack Biyombo, Willy Hernangomez, Nerlens Noel, Omer Yurtseven, Bol Bol, Darius Bazley, JaMychal Green, and recent Lakers Tristan Thompson and Wenyen Gabriel.
