Lakers News: Where LA Ranks Among Betting Favorites To Draft Bronny James

Soon-to-be-former USC Trojans reserve combo guard Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers All-Star forward LeBron James, announced he was entering the NBA draft while maintaining his NCAA eligibility to enter the transfer portal earlier this week. Since Bronny's announcement, betting odds have already come out for which NBA teams are most likely to draft Bronny, via FanDuel Sportsbook.

Unsurprisingly, the Lakers have been given the highest odds to draft Bronny, with +400 odds. The New York Knicks come in second with +800 odds and the Miami Heart and Cleveland Cavaliers are tied for third with +1200 odds. The Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks are tied for the sixth-highest odds at +1400.

If the Lakers draft Bronny, it would bring Bronny onto the same team as his dad. This would be the first time a father-son duo has played in the NBA at the same time, let alone on the same team. LeBron has previously shared that he'd love to play alongside his son, like Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. did in MLB. Even if the Lakers don't draft Bronny, LeBron would be happy to play against his son.

Assuming Bronny does go through with entering the draft this year, he'll go into the NBA after playing one season at USC. During his freshman season at USC, Bronny averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 36.6% from the field. The 6-foot-4 guard has shown promise, especially as a defender, but definitely has plenty of room to improve his game overall.
