Magic's Jamahl Mosley Praises Brandon Williams on Signing with Dallas Mavericks

Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley was complimentary of former G Leaguer Brandon Williams after the Dallas Mavericks signed him to a two-way contract.

The Orlando Magic has been up and down as of late, but the team's former Osceola G League star Brandon Williams is thriving after being signed to a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks following the G League Winter Showcase.

"That's awesome for him," coach Jamahl Mosley said. "I think that's a great opportunity for guys that just shows how important it is for those guys in the G [League] to continue to work to continue to play hard to continue to do the right thing. You know, Coach Murphy does a great job with those guys down there in order to get them prepared for their, you know, their call up or whatever is necessary."

Brandon Williams

Brandon Williams was a scoring machine for the Osceola Magic this season.

In 14 contests with the Osceola Magic this season, Williams averaged 22.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 31.9 minutes per game. During that time, he shot 47.9 percent from the field, 37.6 percent from three-point range, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line.

Last night, Williams was on the Mavericks active roster but didn't play. The 24-year-old guard last played in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers when he played in 24 games, 16 of which he started, and averaged 12.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.1 rebounds.

Entering his second stint in the NBA, Williams will look to show the growth from his time in the G League and eventually go from a two-way contract player with the Mavericks to a full-time member of an NBA roster.

Williams' next chance to play NBA minutes will come tomorrow night when Dallas plays the Golden State Warriors.
