Should Magic Have 'Significant Concern' for Markelle Fultz Extension?

Magic point guard Markelle Fultz will be forcing the team into extension decisions soon.

The Orlando Magic has built a deep roster full of young players. With this comes roster decisions for the front office, and it's not always easy.

Among the players due for a contract decision is Markelle Futz. The former top pick has turned his career around, but availability remains an issue.

Fultz, 25, played and started in 60 games this past season. He started 60 of his 72 games in his third season and his first season with the Magic. Outside of those two seasons, Fultz hasn't played more than 20 games in a season.

"Among the younger set are a group of players coming off of either their first or second market-value contract (Markelle Fultz...)," CBS Sports writes. "All of those players come with some significant concern or another, and their value will vary by team in ways that max players typically don't have to worry about."

Fultz is coming off a three-year, $50 million contract. The value was solid for the point guard, but the Magic has young guards that will be able to fill the void at the position. Anthony Black could be the point guard of the future. Cole Anthony is an incredible scorer. Jalen Suggs has the tools to continue developing his game.

Point being, Fultz is expandable if a team comes in with an offer that the Magic doesn't want to top or he doesn't like a potential offered contract extension from Orlando, the two don't have to come to an agreement as both sides can find a better partner.

However, the 6-4 point guard is coming off a season averaging 14 points per game on just under 30 minutes per game. He's got potential to play a crucial role in the Magic's return to the playoffs when that time comes if he's still around on the squad.
