Who Steps Up for Magic After Franz Wagner Ankle Injury?

The Orlando Magic was able to fight until the very end against the Sacramento Kings, despite an injury to one of the team's best players.

The injury bug has already got to the Orlando Magic quite a bit this season, but in the team's most recent game against the Sacramento Kings, it only got worse.

Just five minutes into the first quarter, Magic star Franz Wagner sustained a right ankle injury that ruled him out for the rest of the game. The silver lining for the Magic is that the x-rays that the team took on Wagner's ankle were negative. meaning that his injury was just a sprain.

An injury like this to one of the team's best players would normally be a big blow to the Magic. But with how deep the team's roster is this season, it has more than its fair share if players that could step up in Wagner's absence.

In the Magic's close overtime loss to the Kings, Banchero scored a career-high 43 points and shot an incredible 6-9 from beyond the arc. And if the Magic's game against the Kings is any indication to how the team can play without Wagner, it could be just fine until he returns.

Banchero and the rest of the Magic will be back in action on Friday against the defending champion Denver Nuggets. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET inside Ball Arena.
