Magic's Moe Wagner 'Really Happy' For Michigan's National Championship

Moe Wagner is one of four players on the Orlando Magic who played collegiately at Michigan.

ORLANDO - There were a few players on the Orlando Magic with a rooting interest in the college football national championship on Monday when the Michigan Wolverines beat the Washington Huskies 34-13 at NRG Stadium.

Among the players whose alma mater was in the national championship was Magic center Moe Wagner. For him, seeing Michigan win it all was a full-circle moment because he arrived at the same time as head football coach Jim Harbaugh.

"I got to college when Harbaugh got there too," Wagner said. "So to kind of see the last nine years I think it's been which is crazy. It's cool to see this development of the program. ... I'm very privileged that I could attend that university and obviously makes me really happy that they won yesterday."

Franz Wagner, Caleb Houstan and Jett Howard also played at Michigan. Markelle Fultz played collegiately at Washington.

Moe played three seasons and started every game in his final two. Moe's junior season in 2017-18 was his best, as he averaged 14.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and one steal per game. That Wolverines team reached the NCAA final and lost to the Villanova Wildcats 79-62.

Franz played two seasons at Michigan (2019-2021), while Houstan (2021-22) and Howard (2022-23) were one-and-done.

Orlando (21-16) will look to get back into the win column on Friday when it faces the Miami Heat (21-15) at 8 p.m. ET at the Kaseya Center.
