Magic Suffer Overtime Loss vs. Knicks in Summer League

After leading by double-digits in the second half, the Orlando Magic fell to the New York Knicks in overtime on Wednesday night.

The Orlando Magic (0-3) couldn't capitalize on late game heroics from rookie guard Anthony Black, falling to the New York Knicks (1-2) on Wednesday night 82-80.

Orlando opened the game with strong shooting from rookie Jett Howard, leading by four after the first quarter and heading into halftime tied at 41 a piece.

Howard led all scorers with 22 points on four of eight shooting from three - including 10 after one.

Orlando would go on to outscore New York 23-12 in the third quarter to take an 11 point lead heading into the fourth. However, the Knicks tenacious defense opened the final period on an 11-2 run to pull within two, limiting the Magic to just 11 points over the final 10 minutes.

New York took its first lead since the opening half with 2:35 left in fourth following free throws from QJ Peterson and led 75-73 with six seconds remaining.

Howard found himself with the ball as the clock ticked down, firing a three in hopes of taking the lead, but after rattling around on the rim, Black came crashing in for a tip in as time expired.

Heading into overtime with a target score of 82, Orlando tied things up once again 80-80. But New York didn't give the Magic a final chance with guard Jaylen Martin making the winning bucket.

Quinndary Weatherspoon finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists. And despite Black struggling from the field, the rookie guard finished with 14 rebounds to go along with four assists.

Orlando is back in action on Thursday against the Portland Trail Blazers. Tipoff is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
