Orlando Magic Looking to Improve in Rematch vs. New Orleans Pelicans

How the Orlando Magic can remain undefeated in a second preseason matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Last Tuesday, the Orlando Magic beat the New Orleans Pelicans 122-105, but tonight, the team will have to be on its A-game if it wants to beat them for a second straight week.

The star of that game proved to be Wendell Carter Jr., who was the game’s leading scorer after putting up 18 points in 19 minutes. Other players, such as reigning Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero, Cole Anthony, and Markelle Fultz, also scored 10 or more points.

Although the Magic won its first preseason game, that doesn’t mean players executed every aspect of their game perfectly. Heading into its rematch with New Orleans, Orlando head coach Jamahl Mosley shared how his players will be able to prepare using footage from the game ahead of the new contest.

The Orlando Magic are facing the New Orleans Pelicans for the second time this preseason.

“We’ll watch it again tomorrow before the game,” Mosley said. “They have their own personal clips that they’ll watch again to be able to recognize where they can take advantage of things and where we can also improve.”

One thing that the Magic can improve on is rebounding. While Orlando outperformed New Orleans in shooting percentages, assists, and blocks, the team lost the rebounding battle, gave up more steals, and allowed points to be scored off of turnovers.

So far this preseason, the Magic is undefeated at 2-0, while New Orleans is winless at 0-3. For Orlando to keep its momentum going, it must beat a familiar opponent at home. If the team can do that, fans may believe this young roster has already taken a step forward heading into the regular season.
