Orlando Magic Reveals New Arena Name: Details

The Orlando Magic has played in the Amway Center since 2010, but now the arena will be the Kia Center.

The Orlando Magic will play its first game in the Kia Center tonight against the Miami Heat.

It's not a new building, but rather a new name the building will have after it was announced this morning.

The team has played in the Amway Center since the arena opened 13 years ago, but that will be changing very soon.

Magic CEO Alex Martins told Sports Business Journal's Terry Lefton in November that he’s expecting a new naming-rights sponsor before the end of the year.

Even though the Magic has been playing in the Amway Center since 2010, before that, the team was playing in the Amway Arena. So getting a new naming-rights sponsor is a big deal, seeing as the Magic has had the same one for just over 15 years.

The Amway Center has seen the Magic make the playoffs several times, but ultimately fall just short of making a deep run. And although it will be the same building, hopefully the newly-named arena will see the Magic finally making that big playoff run that all of the team's fans know that it can make with this new and exciting roster.

But even thought the Amway Center has not seen any deep playoff runs, that does not mean that its history means any less to the Magic organization.

The arena has seen its fair share of stars over the last decade, and they have become a part of the arena's history. From Dwight Howard throwing down monster dunks, all the way to the exciting play from young stars like Paolo Banchero

Now, the Magic begins a new era at the Kia Center.
