Magic Second Half Surge Key to Win vs. Nets

The Orlando Magic played four strong quarters in their win against the Brooklyn Nets.

ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic walked into the locker room at the end of the first half last night up 14 points, but instead of letting the Brooklyn Nets back in the game, they put their foot on the gas, pulling out a 27-point victory.

The Magic have been susceptible to giving up leads this season, but they ensured that wouldn't be the case last night.

"I think it’s growth," coach Jamahl Mosley said postgame. "We say every halftime for the most part ‘make them call the first timeout,’ and this is one of those times that we did it. We did it the right way, the ball was moving, we were sharing it, but we guarded, you know that was the big start. But we guarded the right way and we set the tone, so I think with that, this is a growth period for our guys to understand exactly how they need to do from the beginning of the game as well as coming out of halftime.”

While not every game will come against a sub-.500 team like the Nets coming off a back-to-back, it's important for the Magic to not get complacent, because that will be key for some big games down the line.

The Magic are back in action tomorrow night when the Utah Jazz come to town. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
