Magic Starting 5: Lakers' Russell Westbrook Trade Sets Up Deadline Day

In this story:
1. RUSS TRADED BY LAKERS TO UTAH
Lakers receive: D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt
Jazz receive: Russell Westbrook, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones, 2027 protected first-round pick (via LAL)
Timberwolves receive: Mike Conley, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, three future second-round picks.
According to The Athletic, the Lakers are working on a three-team deal to send Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz, Mike Conley to the Minnesota Timberwolves and D'Angelo Russell to Los Angeles.
In this prospective deal, the Jazz would likely buy out Westbrook's contract and Russell will reunite with the team that took him No. 2 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft.
2. WHAT WILL THE MAGIC DO ON DEADLINE DAY?
"At 22-33, the Magic isn't among the worst teams in the league, but also remains three games back of the play-in tournament. With the team's current positioning as neither a firm buyer nor seller, Bleacher Report has determined that the Magic's trade panic meter is "low.""
3. AN ABSOLUTE SWING FOR THE FENCES
“A Fred VanVleet trade makes sense for the Magic as far as balancing their 3-point shooting and providing a veteran guard who can keep the offense organized while being a pest defensively," Action Network said.
4. WILL GARY HARRIS STAY OR GO?
"Harris, 28, is one of the oldest players on the team, something the Magic value about him. He's also been by far the Magic's best outside shooter, making 46.7 percent of his threes this season. For a team that struggles to shoot from deep, Harris has been a much-needed force in that department."
5. NEXT MAGIC GAME
The Magic will return to the court tonight against the Denver Nuggets at 7:00 p.m. You can watch in-market on Bally Sports Florida or out-of-market on NBA League Pass.
