NBA Trade Odds: Mavs Favorite for Pistons’ Killian Hayes?

While a trade alone for Killian Hayes may not move the needle, could the Dallas Mavericks acquire him along with Bojan Bogdanovic from the Detroit Pistons?

With the Dallas Mavericks sitting at 26-22 and ninth in the Western Conference, the trade deadline could make or break their season.

Adding a player or two that can make an immediate impact or standing pat could be the difference between the Mavericks making the playoffs or missing them for a second straight season. One player Dallas got connected to by Bovada is Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes.

Killian Hayes.

Bovada put together odds for Hayes' next landing spot, and the Mavs had the third-best odds at +750. The San Antonio Spurs were listed as the favorite at +250, while the Toronto Raptors have +300 odds.

Hayes has averaged 6.9 points, 4.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game this season. On a whim, Dallas trading for a guard who has struggled to score consistently this season doesn't make much sense. But adding Hayes alongside forward Bojan Bogdanovic is a move that can add some serious juice to the Mavericks' offense.

Bogdanovic is averaging 20.3 points and is shooting 41.4 percent from 3. With Detroit (6-41) going nowhere this season, embracing a rebuild and seeing which young players have potential long-term is the only direction it should be considering.

The 34-year-old sharpshooter can be a huge boost for a team trying to contend for a playoff spot. If he's available via trade, it's a move Dallas should be all-in for, as Bogdanovic can thrive with Luka Doncic or Kyrie Irving penetrating the defense and finding him open beyond the arc.

If adding Hayes is the only way to get Bogdanovic, then that's a price Dallas and other teams should be willing to pay.
