NBA Legend Reveals Teams Wanted Him For a Comeback

Carmelo Anthony was called for a comeback

Carmelo Anthony has not played in an NBA game since April 5, 2022. While some may think it wasn't his choice, Anthony revealed that teams have actually been interested in him since that time

On an episode of the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast with Melo and Mero, Carmelo Anthony revealed which basketball teams have called him for a comeback.

"China," Carmelo said. "The Pelicans called. That would've been that jersey... You could put me anywhere on God's green Earth and we gone play. I'll play 1-on-1 with anybody. Not now (jokes), but I'll play with anybody."

In all honesty, Carmelo Anthony still looked perfectly capable of playing in the NBA during his last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. During the 2021-22 NBA season, Carmelo Anthony averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists on 44/38/83 shooting. He did all of this while on the bench for 66 games. Even if Carmelo's defense is shaky at age 39 years old, he's still a very capable offensive shooter.

While Carmelo Anthony's last team was the Los Angeles Lakers, he'll always be remembered for his time with the Denver Nuggets. It may seem like he's forgotten about these days because of Nikola Jokic's resurgence, but Anthony is still one of the greatest Nuggets players in franchise history - leading the team to a Western Conference Finals run.
