Nikola Jokic Joins Russell Westbrook on Historic NBA List

Nikola Jokic is an amazing passer.

While every analyst has been talking about Nikola Jokic's scoring ability after hitting a game-winning buzzer-beater against the Warriors, his passing is equally as phenomenal.

On Sunday night against the Detroit Pistons, Nikola Jokic became the first player since Russell Westbrook to have over 16 assists in under 25 minutes. Saying those words out loud only magnifies how ridiculous the stat line is - 16 assists in under 25 minutes.

Jokic's stat line against the Detroit Pistons wasn't one that fans would typically ever see - 4 points, 16 assists, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks. He only attempted three shots and was a +16 or the game. It was the type of night where Jokic did not try to score the ball at all and simply wanted to find his teammates. If it shows anything, it's that Jokic can be an amazing distributor when he wants to focus his game on that.

Even though it feels like the Nuggets would probably need more from Jokic with a performance like that, Denver was absolutely crushing the Pistons. By the start of the fourth quarter, Denver was already up 23 points, in a game where they led by as many as 24 points. Sunday night was the perfect kind of game that the Nuggets needed after dropping their previous one to the Orlando Magic on the 6th.
